This is my third hosting account now and I am that impressed with Fat Cow that I am seriously considering transferring my other domains over. Experienced webmasters might feel a little restricted with this hosting account however if you are a novice then it is a perfect introduction to web hosting.
The Pros’.
- One click installation of all Open Source applications. If you know the application that you want to use and the layout of your site, then you could have a stunning website up and running within a day. Joomla, Drupal, Mambo, Open Reality and WordPress are all there, as is the ability to set up a forum or E-commerce site.
- Free Domain registration included with the sign up.
- Google webmaster tools are included in the control panel so you can have a site map generated, submitted and verified with 5 minutes.
- The free ad word credits that you get actually work. Other hosting accounts have advertised free ad word credits and then upon signing up declare that the offer is not longer available. Nice to see Fat Cow standing by it’s word.
- Setting up email accounts to the domain was easy and done within a couple of clicks.
- Two hour response time from technical support. Felt the response was a copy and paste answer so it lacked the personal touch however they did answer my question.
- Quick loading time of my site and it is always up and running.
The Con’s
- Very basic and poor performing website builder, however there is no need to use these when you have the one touch Open Source application installation.
- CPanel seems to have a habit of kicking you out quite often.
- Poor visiting stats. The Cpanel does not display daily keyword click through, session times, pages most viewed etc. There is the option to sign up to Google web stats however for daily detailed reports this is the one facility lacking.
- Tutorials are not very helpful or detailed but the control panel is self-explanatory and easy to navigate.
Overall I am seriously impressed with FatCow and I hope that they can continue with the excellent start that they have given. |
